I’ve always shied away from using Blender because it seemed too complicated to learn, which is how I found myself using programs like Cheetah3D and eventually Cinema 4D.
But as I begin becoming more of a pro, I’ve come to realize that I need to learn other 3D programs, and not just one. Since Blender is free, I’ve decided to start with that.

I learned 3ds max through high school. It’s my go-to for modeling these days.

I tried to mess with it a while back but it’s not very intuitive to me. I think I’m going to buy a student copy of rhino3d since it’s so cheap. I used to use it at an old job so I should be able to pick it back up.

Start with his coffee cup tutorial and work your way forwards from there.
The cycles render engine is easily the single most powerful feature the program has. Once the tutorials get you into node editing you’ll realize how amazing it is.

Cinema has a very nice renderer - I don’t see a reason to learn something else.

Professional 3D modelers know how to use all or most of the big programs.

Blender isn’t one of them though. If you’re gonna spend your time learning another program, learn Maya. It’ll make you more viable in the workplace. Just my 2 cents.
